HOW TO PLAY
Yardzee and Yardkle are outdoor dice games, similar to Yahtzee and Farkle, played with large dice. Yardzee is a giant version of Yahtzee, while Yardkle is a giant version of Farkle. The core gameplay involves rolling dice to score points based on specific combinations, with players aiming to fill out scorecards and achieve the highest total score.
Yardzee (Giant Yahtzee) Rules:
Objective: To score the highest number of points by rolling dice combinations that match pre-defined categories.
Dice: Typically involves 6 large dice.
Gameplay: Players take turns rolling the dice up to three times per turn to achieve desired combinations.
Scoring: Players choose a scoring category after each turn and record the score on a scorecard.
Some common categories include:
Upper Section: Sum of specific dice (e.g., all 1s, all 2s).
3 of a Kind: Three dice showing the same number.
4 of a Kind: Four dice showing the same number.
Full House: Three of one number and two of another.
Small Straight: Four dice in sequence (e.g., 1-2-3-4).
Large Straight: Five dice in sequence (e.g., 1-2-3-4-5).
Yardzee: Five of a kind.
Chance: Sum of all dice.
Yardzee Bonus: Additional points are awarded for subsequent Yardzees (five of a kind).
Turn Structure: Players can choose to score after any of their rolls, not just after the third roll.
Winning: The player with the highest total score after all rounds wins.
Yardkle (Giant Farkle) Rules:
Objective: Accumulate points by rolling dice combinations, with the goal of reaching a target score or avoiding rolling a "Yardkle" (a roll with no scoring dice).
Dice: Similar to Yardzee, typically 6 large dice are used.
Gameplay: Players take turns rolling the dice, aiming to score points or avoid a Yardkle.
Scoring:
1s: 100 points each.
5s: 50 points each.
3 of a Kind: Score depends on the number (e.g., three 2s = 200 points).
Six-Dice Straight: 1,2,3,4,5,6 = 1500 points.
Two Triplets: Two sets of three of a kind = 1000 points.
Full House: Three of a kind and a pair = 500 points.
Yardkle: If a player rolls and doesn't score any points, they have rolled a Yardkle, and the turn ends.
Banking Points: Players must accumulate a minimum number of points (often 300) on a turn before banking the score and passing the dice.
Re-rolling: Players can choose to re-roll any dice that have not been scored, up to a certain number of times per turn.
Winning: The first player to reach a predetermined score (e.g., 10,000 points) wins.
