HOW TO PLAY
Bocce ball is a game where players or teams aim to throw or roll balls to get them closer to a smaller target ball (the pallino). The team with the closest ball(s) to the pallino at the end of a round (frame) scores points. The game continues until a predetermined score is reached, typically 12 or 16 points.
Basic Rules:
Objective: Get your bocce balls closer to the pallino than your opponent.
Pallino Throw: One player from the starting team throws the pallino (target ball) to the other end of the court.
Bocce Ball Throws: Teams alternate throwing their bocce balls, aiming to get them closer to the pallino or to displace the opponent's balls.
Scoring: Only the team with the closest ball(s) to the pallino scores points. One point is awarded for each ball closer than the opponent's closest ball.
Baci: If a bocce ball touches the pallino, it's a "baci" or "kiss" and can score extra points, often 2 points.
Winning:The first team to reach a predetermined score (e.g., 12 or 16 points) wins the game.
Additional Rules & Gameplay:
Foul Lines: Players must stay behind designated foul lines when throwing the pallino and bocce balls.
Out of Bounds: Balls that go out of bounds are considered dead for that frame.
Spocking/Hitting: Players can attempt to knock away opponent's balls or the pallino with a hard underhand throw.
Measuring: A tape measure or other tool can be used to determine which balls are closest to the pallino, especially in close situations.
Team Size: Bocce can be played with varying team sizes, with each player throwing a specific number of balls.
Court: While bocce can be played in a designated court, it can also be played in any open space.
